Meet Heather

Heather Howes
Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant
Hi there! I'm Heather and I'm so happy you're here.

Firstly, I want to commend you for taking the steps to learn more about baby/toddler sleep and how you can help yourself, your child and your family. Raising a child is no easy feat and you're not in this alone.

I'm a proud aunt to five, a supportive friend, devoted wife, loving sister and daughter. I have a degree in communications with a minor in psychology.

Over the years I've been trusted to care for people's babies for extended periods of time and been a warm support for someone experiencing post-partum anxiety + depression.

Those who know me say I am bubbly yet have a calming nature, am patient, tenacious and make myself available to support whether it be a phone call, text message or a visit.

Professional, flexible, collaborative and caring are some of the words those who I've had the pleasure of working with in the past have used to describe me.

To the parents + caregivers reading this, you don't have to feel overwhelmed, exhausted and frustrated anymore. You deserve to fully enjoy your child's early years. With the right support, you and your child can regain your rest and live your best lives.

I would love for nothing more than to support you on this journey.

Yours in good sleep,

About HH Sleep Support
For those who know me (and those who don’t) know that I really value my sleep/getting a good night’s rest.
Over the years I’ve been told “just you wait till you have kids, you won’t be getting sleep like that anymore!” ... which I didn't find very encouraging for my future.
A biological need was being labelled as a nice-to-have luxury for people who don't have young children.

Newsflash: It's a necessity for everyone.
Ok so sure… maybe I won’t be able to sleep exactly the way I did in my early and mid twenties, but I really value my own sleep and the thought of feeling like a lifeless zombie for months on end and not being able to show up for myself, my future baby, my husband or my family sounded like a real-life nightmare.

I may not be a mom yet... but I know I'm not willing to let a lack of sleep stop me from being the best mom I can be one day.
I thought "there has to be a way for both my future baby and myself to get good sleep" and tucked that thought away for another day…
Fast forward to...

My sister + brother in-law hired a sleep consultant to help with their baby's sleep.
I saw for myself from the outside in that this support service truly changed their lives for the better.
Within days, their baby was sleeping independently through the night (without protest) Mom + Dad + Baby were all feeling energized again!

At that point, I knew one day I would be hiring a sleep consultant for my own baby.

The thought of having my own baby is closer than farther away at this point.
I...
... was someone wanted to do work that has a real, positive impact on people in the community
+
... remembered how helpful the sleep support services were for my own family
+
...reflected on how I want to feel as a parent when my own time comes.

Within the year, I started + completed the Baby's Best Sleep Certification program. I learned everything I needed to know to start doing this work.

The mission to energize the lives of children & families by providing gentle, inclusive, evidence based sleep solutions begins!
... and that's how/why
Heather Howes Sleep Support was born!
Approach Continued...

My methodologies are evidence-based and my techniques are gentle and respectful.
What does that really mean? It means that this is not traditional sleep training... my approach is structured around the latest scientific research in pediatric sleep. It means there are no tactics used that make you feel like you're not meeting your child's needs including no "cry it out" methods, ever.
We’ll work together to watch, listen and analyze your baby’s individual needs to ensure they (and you) are consistently getting a good night’s sleep.
Another core aspect of my approach is inclusivity. This is a welcoming space that is open to people of all abilities, religions, LGBTQ2S+ identities and family structures. Whether you're a a single parent, a blended family, a caregiver or anything in between... my promise to you is that your experience with me will be safe and warm.
